NOW IS THE TIME TO IMPLEMENT PROCEDURES TO PROTECT YOUR BUSINESS

We’ve all heard of the Coronavirus that originated in Wuhan, China. But have you thought about how to protect your business if you need to comply with self-quarantine advice?

If any member of your team is forced to self-quarantine and to work remotely, will your IT systems, processes and infrastructure cope?

Now is the time to think about:

Emails and internet access

Check that every team member has access to:

  1. their company email from a laptop, desktop, tablet or mobile
  2. a reliable and secure internet connection
  3. access to company resources using a Virtual Private Network

Hardware

You also need to consider the security of your systems when allowing your team to access your company resources. Consider whether:

  1. your team have end-point security software
  2. your team understands how to access, copy and protect data
  3. you install multi-factor authentication for cloud-based applications

Telephones

Check whether your company telephones can be forwarded to mobile phones or other land lines.

Set up a voice mail message on your company telephone system advising of the situation and who to contact.

Licensing

What apps do your team use every day and will they still be able to access them? Are your team able to access remote desktop services?

Company processes

  1. Do you have a Disaster Recovery Plan?
  2. Can your team work remotely?
  3. What is the most efficient way your team can communicate while working remotely?
  4. What should you change now to minimise disruption to your business?
